Food has always been at the center of Kelsey and Scott's relationship. The two met while working at a restaurant in northern Michigan back in 2006. They enjoyed each other’s company quite quickly, and realized how well they worked alongside one another after only a short amount of time.
Over the years, friends and family began encouraging the two to open their own restaurant after observing their ability to work together as a couple and their shared passion for food. While Scott lead the way in the kitchen, Kelsey would manage the wait staff in the front of the house. Together, the two knew how to keep the business thriving even in the midst of the annual summer craze. After much deliberation and encouragement, the two finally took the leap in 2011. Committing to taking over a restaurant that had been vacant for nearly two years, Kelsey and Scott knew that the initial labor would be tasking, but that the end result would be more than worth the effort. They also knew that turning a previously established business into something of their own would be a challenge within a small community. Low and behold, Kelsey and Scott overcame the odds and have been successfully running their restaurant, The Freshwater Grill, which will mark its seventh year the summer of 2017.
